ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
by Zach Lieberman
April 3 - September 7, 2020
Imagine different possible futures where creativity truly takes flight. Now, imagine yourself in it.
We are thrilled to continue our Miami 2020 season with Future Sketches, a collaboration with one of the most dynamic pioneers in the field of coding and interactive media. Zach Lieberman creates digital poetry through code, technology and theory, informing the visitor in new and innovative ways about what it means to be human.
Future Sketches is the first solo exhibition of Lieberman’s work in Miami, FL, with an emphasis on his eclectic style of sketching with code for creative exploration. Future Sketches presents a compilation of engaging, extraordinary installations that combine creativity, artistic vision and cutting edge technology, often created by Lieberman himself, putting creativity at the forefront of interactive media.
Expect to be surprised at every corner, as the boundaries between the visible and invisible are broken down.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
"Technology should always be in service of the idea. The idea should be something that is poetic or that tells us about what it means to be human. When I create work, I don’t want people to point at it and say, 'That’s dope software.' I want them to say, 'That’s a beautiful idea.'”
Zach Lieberman is an artist, researcher and educator with a simple goal: he wants visitors to be surprised and inspired. In his work, he creates performances and installations that take human gesture as input and amplify them in different ways -- making drawings come to life, imagining what a voice might look like if we could see it, and transforming people's silhouettes into music.
He's been listed as one of Fast Company's Most Creative People and his projects have won the Golden Nica from Ars Electronica, Interactive Design of the Year from Design Museum London as well as listed in Time Magazine's Best Inventions of the Year. He helped start the School for Poetic Computation, a school examining the lyrical possibilities of code.
